What is the difference between a Wedding planner and a Wedding Stylist/designer?

A Wedding planner will source, book and manage all of the traditional elements of a wedding eg. stationery, celebrant, transport, rental companies, caterer, lighting etc. They will manage the overall wedding budget and then plan the run sheet for the day ensuring that all vendors know what their tasks are, where they need to be and when. The planner will then be there on the day of the wedding ensuring that everything runs on schedule and making sure that all the practical elements are in place so that the aesthetics can be realised.

Wedding stylists (also known as wedding designers) are inspired by beauty, they are masters of style, when you walk into a beautifully styled wedding reception with opulent surroundings, lighting that accentuates elements of the room and decadent smells, you are witnessing the work of a wedding stylist who has thought of every detail right down to the texture of the ribbon that is tied around the napkin. A wedding stylists main job is to ensure that they design a concept that reflects the couple’s personalities and sense of style while considering how the space is going to be used by guests and the experience that they will have from beginning to end. The design should also compliment the space chosen, and the couples budget.

A wedding theme or impressive space no longer cuts the mustard when it comes to weddings and if the couple truly want their Wedding Day to be truly theirs, truly unforgettable and reflect their personalities, relationship and their style, they are going to need a wedding stylist to weave their personalities and individual style throughout the entire design and a wedding planner to execute all of the planning and ensure that your day is stress free and unforgettable.

What exactly do you do as a wedding planner?

This may seem like an obvious question but it is one of the most frequent questions we get asked. Every planner works differently so it is important to know what you can expect from them.

It all comes down to what you would like from your planner – and this is an important thing to discuss with them upfront.

Most planners have the ability to design/style the event and then source vendors (often at prices better than you may be able to source yourself) to make this design come to life. They also co-ordinate the Wedding day logistics such as ensuring all vendors know what they are providing, where they need to be and when etc. They will also be able to work through budgets and contracts and ensure that you as the client are getting the best service possible.

In short – we make your dream wedding come to life and take the stress and hassle out of the planning.

What do I need to know about venue contracts?

There can be a lot of fine print in a wedding venue contract so make sure you read carefully. Make sure you know how much time you have to set up and when you need to be all packed up by. Ensure you note any additional charges like overtime costs, coat check, valet parking, or costs of using vendors that are not that of the venue.

These things can often be overlooked by clients and should be considered and worked into the budget.

Do we have to do favour’s for our guests?

Absolutely not. You are already throwing a fabulous party with a beautiful venue, delicious food and awesome music! But, if you do wish to do wedding favour’s most people are normally fans of something edible.

How do I stay within my budget?

This is where we can often help, we have a fantastic range of trusted vendors that we often get reasonable discounts from that we are then able to pass onto our clients. We are also well versed in the art of “corner cutting”, so on the things you are willing to compromise on, we will be more than happy to share our tips and tricks when it comes to saving you money!

What can I expect from you as my planner or stylist?

Upon our initial meeting I will have a list of questions for you as a couple, and from this I will be able to gage what you are wanting from your planner/stylist, how involved you want me to be and we can then firmly lay out what you are able to expect from me.

I can be as involved as you would like me to be, right from helping you to build your guest list to packing up the event on the night of the wedding OR you may just need someone to help you with your thoughts on what style you want your wedding to be – either way I can help and will be more than happy to meet with you and discuss what your expectations are.

What if I already have vendors that I would prefer to use?

Not a problem, I am happy to work with all vendors, though you do need to know that I will have little negotiating power with vendors that are not on my “preferred vendor” list.

I have family members that want to be involved in the planning process and they can often be a bit “pushy”, how do you deal with this?

Not to worry, being a planner with a background in project planning I have come across my fair share of “difficult” people, my aim is always to influence kindly rather than antagonising and I will always ensure that the bride and/or groom have the final say and sign off on any decisions made (unless otherwise agreed)

Can you handle any hiccups on the day of the wedding should they arise?

YES! This is what I am here for – to ensure you do not have to worry on the day of your event and ensure that everything runs smoothly. Sometimes things do not go to plan unfortunately, but, there will always be a way around it and at the end of the day my aim is to ensure that the bride and groom are having their dream day and not worrying about the logistics of the event.

What does a wedding planner cost?

Feel free to take a look at our 'What we offer' page, you will find a range of packages, though if these do not fit with you then feel free to get in contact and we can discuss your particular requirements and a price that will work for you!
